Hospital care may play an important role in your end of life care. You may be admitted for short-term respite care or for symptom management, then return home. Or, you may be admitted to hospital for terminal care if you choose not to die at home, or if it is not feasible for you to be cared for at home until your death.

If you have chosen to stop treating your cancer aggressively, be assured that even in hospital your wishes will be respected, and you will not be pressured to resume aggressive treatment. In hospital, palliative care professionals will work with other health care providers and your family and friends to manage your symptoms, offer support, and help you live as fully and as comfortably as possible.
