Talking

Almost everyone who has been told that they are seriously ill and not likely to get better finds it very difficult to talk about what is happening to them and how they feel. The truth is that usually most of us feel awkward or uncomfortable and even find it painful to talk about it with friends and family - and perhaps with the nurses, doctors and other professionals looking after us.

This part of the web site may help you to overcome some of those difficulties, by offering some easy- to- use suggestions and hints to make it easier and less uncomfortable to ask for what you want and need, and to talk about what you are feeling, if and when you want to. It may help to understand why your friends and family (and even your medical team, perhaps) may find talking awkward, and how you can help them - even though they may feel that they should be helping you.

There are many things to be gained - and a lot of them will do a great deal to help you through uncertainties or difficulties that may lie ahead.
